4:00 pm - 6:00 pm | AFTER-SCHOOL CARE: Children do art activities, are involved in dramatic play, play games, and read stories. Weather permitting, children play outside. Occasionally, at the very end of the day, videos are shown. |
** Free work time allows the child to choose from the shelves an activity demonstrated at circle time or during individual lessons. This is where most learning takes place because the child is manipulating the materials. Children also choose snacks when they are hungry.
Montessorians reserve the right to change the schedule daily due to our philosophy of “following the child” For example, even if it is not “time” to go outside, the child may need it to concentrate better.
For continuity of care, our policy for arriving late for school is: All children must be in attendance by 10:30 am unless they are seeing a doctor or have otherwise made arrangements with the Administrator in advance.
We close at 6:00 pm; our teachers have worked all day and are ready to go home. Any child at school after 6:00 pm will incur a $1.00 per minute per child fee paid directly to the teacher. A phone call must be received before the late pickup. We will take the child to the local police department if we can’t reach the parent and no phone call is received.
